Marong Rifle Range Rules

  1. The Range Officer has complete and absolute control on the Range, and their directions must be followed immediately.
  2. Upon arrival, all Range users must first sign the attendance book and Range Sheet.
  3. Remove firearms from bags or cases before taking them to the firing line. Ensure any firearms not in use are secure.
  4. When going to or from the firing line, all firearms must be carried “muzzle up”, and with the action visibly open, or bolt removed.
  5. Unless otherwise authorized, limit firearms to one per bench.
  6. Keep firearms on the firing line pointed down-range at all times. (Do not lift the muzzle while cycling the action)
  7. Ear and eye protection is compulsory for all range users. The only exception for eye protection is, adult shooters using their own, scoped, rifle.
  8. Baffles must be lowered to the point where they prevent any projectiles leaving the Range property.
  9. The Range Officer will check every firearm before it is removed from the firing line.
  10. All children on the Range property must be under close adult supervision.
  11. Maximum shot size for shotguns is 7.
  12. No smoking within 5 metres of black powder firearms, also all Range users within 5 metres must wear eye protection.
  13. Any person found damaging Range fittings, or ignoring any of these rules will be banned from the Range.

Listen carefully to all Cease-fire commands, and follow them immediately.

Boundaries

The yellow line is never crossed. Access to the Range during ceasefires is via the extreme ends of the covered firing line.
The blue line is not crossed during ceasefires.

Range Etiquette

Please leave the Range as you found it. Stands and sandbags put away, target frames replaced in rack, used targets binned.
While good-natured banter is an integral part of shooting, please refrain from overly loud or offensive language.
